For all of you out there working with SQL Server 2008 Management Studio, if you ever get a “Catastrophic Failure” error while creating a Maintenance Plan for your databases, here’s the solution:

Hit Windows_Key + R and type the following commands:

Regsvr32 msxml3.dll
Regsvr32 msxml6.dll

Problem solved.
